Turkey's 100th anniversary is a significant occasion, marking a century of progress, resilience, and the formation of a national identity. As the country celebrates this milestone, it provides an opportunity to reflect on Turkey's history and to pray for the blessing of the nation.

The modern Republic of Turkey was founded on October 29, 1923, under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. From the ashes of the Ottoman empire, Atatürk rallied the peoples of Anatolia, giving birth to a new nation with a vision for democracy, secularism, and progress. Atatürk's commitment to modernization, education, and women's rights paved the way for Turkey's transformation and repositioned the country on the global stage. Throughout history Turkey's strategic location between Europe and Asia has made her civilizations vital players in regional and global affairs, and Turkey remains a bridge between the East and the West.

When the Republic was founded, only a small number of non-Turkish minority Christians remained, at times facing incredible persecution for the name of Christ. It was only in the second half of the last 100 years that a Turkish, Protestant Evangelical expression of the body of Christ began to emerge. Though small in number, her witness now shines brightly and boldly.

Father, You are merciful and gracious, You desire that none should perish (2 Peter 3:9). We come before You and ask You to Pour out Your Holy Spirit in Turkey- testify to the name of Your Son Jesus. Pour out the Spirit of truth and awaken many to see Him and know Him. Have mercy on this land and bless many to call upon the name of the Son of God. Have mercy on this nation, bless them with the knowledge of the Savior, Jesus the Christ. On this 100-year anniversary, we ask that Jesus would be made known across this land. Reveal him to young and old alike, make Him known to the rich and powerful and the poor and forsaken. Do miracles in His name, that men may know He is the Christ and has power to forgive sins. Amen
