- Pray that all Christmas outreaches in Turkey would be fruitful with all Muslims who will be attending them.
- Pray that the Jesus Film broadcasts would go smooth and well, so that all those who watch would know the true Jesus Christ.
- Pray that the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit be upon all Turkish churches as they plan and do these ministries prayerfully.
Christmas Outreaches
During December, festive lights, “New Year’s” trees, and other decorations adorn shopping malls, streets, shops, and cafes in many cities throughout Turkey. While Turks do not celebrate Christmas or the birth of Jesus, many do celebrate New Year. Sentiment concerning New Year’s celebrations is divided in society, and there is often a lack of awareness that Christmas and New Year are distinct and separate holidays. In many places, there seem to be more decorations than ever this New Year’s season, however there are some conservative Islamic groups who highly discourage Muslims from participating in any New Year’s festivities at all. There are even anti-New Year campaigns in various parts of the country.
During this time of year, the Church in Turkey has an incredible opportunity to clearly share the message, not of the coming year, but of the birth of a humble savior. Many people are open and curious, and churches all over the country are hosting Christmas outreaches both large and small.
Some churches are renting out large meeting spaces or have applied to local governments to use larger facilities such as cultural centers or wedding halls. A few churches located in busy pedestrian zones are able to pass out New Testaments to hundreds of passersby. Even churches in the earthquake zone are inviting their neighbors to Christmas outreach celebrations.
Jesus Film Christmas Broadcasts
Our friends at the Jesus film project have exciting news! This Christmas the Lord has opened doors again, this time for 3 different Jesus film productions to be aired on 20 TV stations across the country. The Jesus Film, Magdalena, or LUMO (the gospel of Mark) will show during the following time slots:
There will be 60 opportunities (20 stations x 3 broadcasts each) for viewers in different areas of Turkey to be introduced to Christ. Please join us in thanking God for this open door and in praying for fruit from these broadcasts.
Join Us In Prayer
For many believers in the Church in Turkey, attending a Christmas celebration was an important step in their journey to faith. We have an opportunity to come alongside the Church in Turkey in prayer as she holds up the light of Christ during this special season. Please join us in praying both for Christmas outreaches and for follow-up from Jesus Film broadcasts.
We would like to wish each of you a very Merry Christmas. May you experience the hope, joy, peace, and love of Christ during this season!
