Pray for Afghanistan
Prayer Requests from Afghanistan By Afghan Team (9/20, 10/4/2019) Dear Brothers and Sisters, Thank you very much for your prayer support regarding the peace deal that President Trump wanted to sign with the T*lib*n leaders. They were on the way to Camp David in the U.S. just a few hours before they wanted to sign the treaty, President Trump changed his mind and cancelled not just the peace agreement but also the negotiations with the T*lib*n in genral. As we pointed out in our mail, this would have been disastrous for the Afghans and the pull-out of the US and NATO troops at this time would have brought the T*lib*n regime back into power. This was truly a powerful answer to prayer! Please continue to pray with us that the T*lib*n, IS and other terrorist movements will be completely wiped out. Because of this peace talks there was a great uncertainty whether the elections would take place. There was a great confusion over this very important presidential election. We would like to thank you for praying for the presidential election. First of all it was a miracle that it took place at all. Holding the election looked nearly impossible because of so many obstacles. Secondly we give praise that there was less violence and attacks on the polling stations. Sadly enough people were killed and injured but much less than in the previous election. Although the results of the election will not come out in the next ten days, both of the main candidates (President Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah) claimed to be the only winner. The same happened four years ago where none of them was willing to admit their defeat. This caused big tensions and delayed the building of the new government for months. Please pray that it will not happen again. Preliminary results are not likely to be determined until Oct. 17 at the earliest, and final results not until Nov. 7 or later.
Thank you so much for your prayers. Blessings, Yours, Afghan Team |
